FIRST ONE ON THE BOX

I guess the fact that this is a premier issue and being the editor lets me be the first one on the box.  The intent of this section of “The Post” is dedicated to those who feel that they have something to contribute to our way of life here on the Rosebud.  Hopefully I will not have to evoke my reserved right to edit the submittals for this section.
The other issue is the space for this section is variable.  I’m keeping the premier issue fairly compact and feeling out the public on acceptance of this publication.
My use of different colors is also part of this test.  If you have a preference on any of the formats used feel free to snail mail or e-mail your comments.

THE SOAP BOX

“The Soap Box” is what it implies.  A place to take a stand for what you believe or feel about issues on or about the Rosebud Reservation and to be held accountable for what you have to say.  The editor would prefer that most material submitted would be of the constructive criticism that offers solutions or in general promotes our Reservation individuals, institutions, and organizations.  The editor reserves the right to select material based on these criteria.  All material should include a signature and address for comments if our readers should desire to comment.  Thank you.

Company Goals and Concerns

I would guess that a lot of you may wonder why I’m doing what I do at my expense and for a not for profit nature.  I look at it as more of a hobby than anything else.  Those Sicangu Lakota Artisans that I can help through the virtual trading post will reward me at their discretion, not based on any fee or percentage of their profits.
My capital outlay to get this project started comes to about $1,400.00 for my new Gateway computer and HP DeskJet printer.  So far about $500.00 for software and a about $300.00 for a domain and dedicated telephone line.   Monthly expenses will run about $100.00 per month for the telephone and internet access.  It would be difficult to put a value on my time since it is more of a hobby.  In summary, a total capital outlay of $2,200.00 and approximately $1,200.00 a year.
Its a lot cheaper than going out drinking twice a month, smoking a pack of cigarettes a day, or a lot of other hobbies or vices one can get trapped by.
If you like what I’m trying to accomplish for myself and my friends feel free to tell your friends to drop by our site.
